James Earl (Jimmy) Condlin

Jimmy  Condlin died at his home on Monday, January 5th, 2009 at the age of 95.  He was born June 23rd, 1913 in Sydney, Novia Scotia, son of James Edward and Marie Condlin.  He was a life long resident of Waddington, New York and attended grade school and graduated High School in Waddington.

He married Elizabeth Frances O’Brien on April 30, 1941 in Brooklyn New York and the couple raised five children together.

He was self employed and ran several successful small businesses in the town of Waddington.  He was the co-owner of Condlin Brother’s Plumbing and Heating and owner of a laundermat and two grocery stores.  He also worked for the United States Postal Service for many years.  Mr. Condlin worked as a general handyman well into his eighties and enjoyed an active and healthy life until shortly before his death.

He was a Charter member of the St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus for fifty years and a life long member of the Waddington Fish and Game Club and active in many community projects.

Mr. Condlin is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his sister, Jane Burke, his daughter Grace and husband George Mattern of Phenix City Alabama and his daughter-in-law, Hilde Condlin of Schweinfurt, Germany.  He is also survived by three sons, John and his wife Tina of Maui, Hawaii, Charles and his wife Mary of Austin, Texas, and Richard of Waddington.  He is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed!

He was pre-deceased by his son, James Condlin, his grandson, David Mattern and his brother, Charles Condlin.

 The family will receive family and friends at Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington, NY on Thursday evening from 6-9 PM.  A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church in the early summer.
